SOME FACTS ABOUT THE FORT SCOTT SCOTTISH RITE CONSISTORY & TEMPLE:

Established:     1881
Reunions:  April and November of each year.
Current Building erected:  1923, dedicated in 1926

The Wind-Chest Pipe Organ is built in to the ceiling of the Auditorium, has two blower motors, three keyboards, a double set of foot controls, and four sets of keyboard controls. The Wind-Chest is a two story room, above the Auditorium, with the Pipes surrounding the room, and the whole system was built in 1924 at a cost of $15,000.00.  (Today’s value is estimated at $2 million plus.)

Organ Pipes:    Range from ½ inch to 16 feet in length.

Organizations that have rented or utilized the Scottish Rite Temple for fund-raising, social or charitable events:   Mirza Shrine, Kiwanis, Rotary, Fort Scott High School, Kansas Rainbow for Girls, The Kansas Department of Commerce, Fort Scott DeMolay, various Masonic Lodges, Order of Amaranth, Shiloh Baptist Church, the African American Women’s League, Fort Scott Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, Scottish Knights of Saint Andrews, Wedding parties and many more. 

Tour groups are welcome to visit the Temple and enjoy a concert of Pipe Organ music. On Easter Sunday, at 2:30 p.m., the public is invited to a FREE performance of the Last Supper and the Ascension of Christ to Heaven scenes in the Auditorium.

There are literally dozens of Masonic organizations, each with a specific purpose or goal. There are so many reasons why one should consider becoming part of the Masonic Family, with a goal that he or she believes in.
